Today we’re going to talk about brain health. And I love talking about this, so buckle up! You’re in for a wild ride! Brain Health is something that we need to pay better attention to, as the brain is one of the most important organs in your body. Improving your brain health will improve overall health. And, for really anyone in life, but especially students, scientists, or anyone else that has to really remember things for a test or for whatever work you’re doing, and increasing brain performance, this blog post will be for you.
So, to start off this post, we’re going to talk about the Environmental Factors that limit your brain health.
Environmental Factors:
EMF:
EMFs, or the Electromagnetic Field is caused by Bluetooth and Wifi. It’s radioactive waves that are difficult to escape, and can cause a lot of harm in your body. EMFs damage brain health, lung health, and many other parts of your body. EMFs have been shown to deteriorate your brain’s health, acceleratimg Alzheimer’s and causes so much other damage to your brain as well. You want to buy EMF blockers, try to distance yourself from Wifi when you can, and try to have your phone on airplane mode when you can. I know it’s not convenient, which is why I suggest you look into the blockers. I have one placed on the back of my phone, and then I don’t have to worry about it too much.
Perfume, Hair Care, Nail Polish, and Make-Up:
Ladies, this is a big one. I know that many of you love to wear perfume for yourself, for the enjoyment, to impress your date or your husband, but perfume has so many chemicals it will cause all kinds of problems in your body. Hair-Care, Nail Polish and Make-Up are the same way. I recommend trying to find organic, high quality hair care, nail polish, and make-up products. I know that’s easier said than done, and it’s more expensive, but if it means that you have better skin, better hair, and better health, isn’t it worth it? (Cologne is the same gentlemen. Filled with bad chemicals that can harm you, just like perfume is.) What I do for perfume, is use essential oils. Truthfully, I don’t even use them for perfume, I use them medicinally. But I have had people ask what perfume I’m wearing, and I can just smile and respond that it’s actually my essential oils. And you can do the same with men’s cologne.
Cleaning Supplies, and Air Fresheners:
Cleaning supplies packs even more chemicals than perfume does. And the difference, you’re using cleaning supplies even more than you wear perfume. (Especially you men.) And the cleaning chemicals tend to linger. And by the time they might have gone away, you’ll start cleaning again. My recommendation in this case, is to make your own cleaning supplies, with soap, vinegar, water, and other solutions that you can easily find online.
Chemicals, and Pollution:
While it does seem rather redundant to put chemicals on the list, considering that all the other items I’ve listed I listed because of chemical content, I thought I should put it up anyway. Pollution is a huge part in brain deterioration. If you want a healthy brain, you need to try to limit your exposure to all the pollution. I know that’s difficult, we live in a very polluted world. But try not to go to places that are higher pollution areas unless you need to.
Stress
I won’t go into a ton of detail in this blog post on how bad stress is for your overall health, as I cover it in almost every blog post. But I do want to mention that it is important for brain health. Stress is always said to be a killer, but it kills your brain too. Stress accelerates Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and many other problems. Try to destress after a long day, and spend some time appreciating yourself. Stress will only harm your body.
Food For Brain Health:
The best foods to boost your brain health would be: Alaskan Fish, Chia Seeds, and High Quality Fats like MCT oil and Avocado. You want to make sure you are consuming enough Omega-3s which you can find in Eggs and Meat. Nuts, seeds, blueberries, and Vitamin D are all extremely beneficial for your brain health. Eat a good amount of these, and you’ll feel smarter for sure. Make sure that you are regularly “eating the rainbow.” The darker the lettuce, cabbage, blueberries, or whatever produce your eating, the more polyphenols you are consuming, which are incredible for brain health. Also, try Intermittent Fasting, It is also extremely beneficial for your brain health.
